Poster Designing 007, 50 years of Bond style, rights reserved. |
My friend V. and I are planning a New Year's Eve party next month. Our idea was to show three James Bond movies from different eras and to dress up to the occasion. When we found out that there was an exhibition on 50 years of Bond style in the Kunsthal (Rotterdam) we couldn't be happier.

So last Saturday we took off by train to Rotterdam and went to see Designing 007. It was a multimedia experience through all the worlds of James Bond: the sets, costumes, cars, props and gadgets.

The exhibition is set up in 12 themed rooms like the casino and the ice palace. We loved the costumes, but as we are both nearing 50 we probably should rather consider costumes for M or Miss Moneypenny instead of Famke Janssen's fabulous black dress.

After the exhibition we went for lunch in café NRC and they offered Bond' style cocktails over the weekend. The interior of the café was spruced up with details like these pillow cases referring to the world of James Bond.

If you are just a little bit into James Bond' films this exhibition is certainly worth seeing. It gave us enormous inspiration, motivation and ideas for our party but even if you are not throwing a theme party it offers lots of experiences in the fields of filmography, set design, fashion, luxury and technique.
